engine light came on. The van runs okay for a few minutes then starts to sputter. It was low on oil so I put some of the only oil I had onhand 20w40. Could this do any damage to the engine? Whatelse would make the engine light come on?
The sputtering and check engine light sounds like a bad ERC valve or oxygen sensor.
You can take it to most repair shops and they can run a diagnostics for free. Auto Zone will do the same thing.
