My cd/dvdw Ts-H652L optical drive recognizes and plays cd's but not dvd's.

I"m using Windows XP. The drive occasionally recognizes and plays a dvd, but maybe 1 time in 10. I've rolled back, and tried to update with no luck.

The laser pickup unit of the DVD player may either be dusty or dirty. Try to clean it, by inserting a lens cleaning disc into the player and play it until it pays completley. Then check it out.
If this do not help you, the laser pickup unit is faulty. It will be best to muy a new Player, rather than try to repair it, especially to computer DVD players. OK.

that it will be easiest and profitable than repair these kinds of system components. I've tried to rapair my own dvd writer to my system, but not suceeded. That is why I recomended you to repalce it as a unit. My system has two of them, LG and Samsung . Both are DVD ROM; re-writable. I recomend you to buy an LG brand.

1980 Suzuki GS 550 L has no midrange power?

I have a 1980 Suzuki GS 550 L as my winter project. First thing I did was clean tank out and kreem it with tank liner. Then rebuild the carburetors top and bottom end of the carbs. I soaked thejets in carb cleaner and blew them out with compressed air. Got everything back together again. Bike started but has no midrange power if I twist the throttle fast it hesitates. And when the rpm's do get up and I let go the throttle the rpm slowly come back down.

Please take out your spark plugs and check their electrode condition. If they are black then you have a very rich mixture. That could be a faulty ignition spark (weak) or clogged airway in the air filter housing. Also check the carb's needles if they are adjustable in height, pute them in the middle scale. I believe when you were cleaning the carbs, you took out the pilot screw and the idle jet and cleaned that circuit thoroughly.
If they are white then your mixture is lean (probably your intake system sucks extra air from the intake collars where you plug the carbs on to the cylinder head or from the collars that connects the carbs to the air filter housing)

Also check the muffler bearing.

replace low beam head lights on buick allure

Open hood, look on top of head light assm, you will see a bolt or screw, these hold assm in. remove, and pull out assm. Turn lock collar, remove old bulb, install new, BUT DO NOT TOUCH GLASS END OF BULB WITH YOU HAND, the oil from your skin will make the bulb explode when it is heated.

low beam headlight not coming on drivers side?

low beam headlight not coming on drivers side..2002 buick regal. there is power there and have tried a new bulb.. even switched the bulb from passenger side and it wont work on the drivers side.

If you know that you have power, then the ground is bad. There should be a ground wire at the body near the harness for the headlights.

Power is power, ground is ground. If the bulb is getting power and ground it has to work, (if its good) Did you use a test light? if so, put the clip on the positve of the battery and probe the ground wire, it should light the test light.

HEADLIGHT problem?

RIGHT HEAD LITE KEEPS GOING OUT ( Low Beam ) & IT DONT SEEM LIKE THE BULB IS THE ISSUE...?????............COULD IT POSSIBLE BE IN THE COLLUM WERE THE CONTROL ARM IS AT..?

both head lights would go out if the switch was bad.. check wiring to bulb. center wire will be ground use test light to figure out what colour for low n high, use battery ground to verify positive feeds reverse test light to battery positive to verify ground in plug, wiggle harness while you test to see if maybe there is a break in wire close to headlamp, also check fuse box sum cars will have separate fuses for headlights hi n low r and left.

P2008 Intake Manifold Runner Control (Imrc) Circuit Open (Bank 1)

P2008 Intake Manifold Runner Control (Imrc) Circuit Open (Bank 1).is there a cheap (easy & quick) way to fix this. need to pass emission test.

what motor is it?

it is the 3.9L V-6

yours has the electronic control unit vs the vacuum type which is known for some simple fixes. you might try unplugging the unit and checking connector. you could test the unit for resistance readings to see if 1 bank actuator is defective.

The Alternator On Freestar Burned Out And After Replacing It,The Speedometer Quit Working The Abs Brake Light In Dash?

The Alternator On Freestar Burned Out And After Replacing It,The Speedometer Quit Working The Abs Brake Light In Dash...After changing a burned out alternator on a 2005 Freestar the speedometer quit working and the abs andbrake lights came on and I cannot reset them. What is the procedure for accomplishing this?

you need apro model to find out what is wrong with abs. that can also reset/erase the codes. auto parts stores dont' have this model normally.

The Dome Light Near Left Gate Doesn't Work?

Freestar Losing Power?

My '06 Freestar is losing power on acceleration (usually when going uphill). The RPMs drop to zero, the battery light comes on, and the red security system light on the dashboard lights up for a few seconds (usually only flashes when van is off). As soon as I release the gas pedal the power comes back. This tends to happen a lot around 75-80 km/h when the van is shifting gears (but not always at this speed). There is also a knock or ping sometimes when this happens (a mechanic friend of mine was with me one time and described it as a backfire). On a few occassions the van wouldn't start in the driveway (would turn over) and then started again later on.

my 2006 frestar is doing the exact samething. Please let me know what you have found out.

orange fluid leak most likely power steering fluid?

I have a 2004 ford freestar and I noticed that there was a leak on the drivers side. I looked at the fluid and compared it to all other fluids in the van and it's the same color as the power steering fluid. When I turned the wheel all the way to the left or right, my hubby noticed that the drip seemed to turn into a light spray. What could it be? There are no smells, smoke, sounds etc..

could be a pressure line that is running from side to side on you steering rack the best war to find it is to get under the car and turn the wheel. orange is kinda new to me for power sterring , ive seen engine coolant orange keep an eye on your fluid levels

Check your hoses around your power steering resevoir, you might have a pin hole leake in one of the hoses. Make sure to keep an eye on the fluid level. As long as you keep fluid in it you won't burn out the pump.

check engine light 2002 kia rio rxv?

the check engine light comes on and off every couple of weeks in my 2002 kia rio rxv. The car is running as normal (no leaks, smells, not over heating etc..). The light will come on and stay on for a day or so, then go off and stay off for about a week or two. What could this be? ps...it has regular oil changes, tune ups, it has a new timing belt, gaskets, plugs, water pump and more.

common problem with the 4.2L is o2 sensors, depending on the code. you need a obd11 scan tool and it will tell you which bank is faulty. your vehicle has 3 o2 sensors.

check engine light is on?

check engine light is ondealer where we purchased van said computer center of dash was damaged by water leaking from outside. Is this possible!!!

Yes, that is possible. You could have a variety of shorts caused by water behind the dashboard. I recommend having the vehicle scanned to see what codes you can retrieve. Let me know if you require further assistance.

when climbing hills the engine hesitate and it seems it's loosing power the spark plugs, fuel filter and iac were changed?

Try checking out the carb and compression.

I am having the same problem, but I know the engine wants to over heat when going up hills as well. I am changing the thermostat and have a code for running lean. Can these two be related or do I most likely have two different problems at the same time?

fuel/air ratios can cause temprature variations, your best bet is having a tune up.

2004 for freestar engine code P0303 and P0316 ?

engine light came on. The van runs okay for a few minutes then starts to sputter. It was low on oil so I put some of the only oil I had onhand 20w40?

engine light came on. The van runs okay for a few minutes then starts to sputter. It was low on oil so I put some of the only oil I had onhand 20w40. Could this do any damage to the engine? Whatelse would make the engine light come on?

The sputtering and check engine light sounds like a bad ERC valve or oxygen sensor.

You can take it to most repair shops and they can run a diagnostics for free. Auto Zone will do the same thing.

high pitch squell not in engine or brakes must go above 25mph?

high pitch squell not in engine or brakes must go above 25mphsquell is still there when traveling at 25 and above. Replaced the brakes front and rear. While traveling shut down engine but squell was still there. Believe it is coming from front end but not sure because it is so high pitched. Put new tires on about 3 months ago.

I removed the wheels and brakes from the front lifted the van and mine still does it!! Also noticeed if you steer slightly of center while on the highway noise goes away. NOTE I only have 30,000 mlies on ours

you can get your breaks worked on

check if the correct size cabin filter is in.

Have a 2004 Ford Freestar 4.2l with 75k miles. About a month ago the engine started missing. Engine light was blinking. Took it to local shop and problem of course stopped before they could diagnoseit. They checked wires and plugs among other things and said everything appeared ok. Wife drove it for a month with no problems and then yesterday it once again started missing. Engine light is blinking again.

Both Autozone and Oreillys will scan your van without charge. A blinking light usually means an intermittent problem and may be picked up on a scanner this time. The local shop did right by checking the wires and plugs.

What they did was to check the spark side of the problem. You may have a problem with a fuel injector or its wire which also causes a miss. Nothing is easy to work on anymore. If this is your only vehicle it makes it hard to do something.

If the next scan does not help you about all you can do is catch it missing, shut it off, and pull the plugs. You can tell if a plug is not firing by looking at it. Or you can mist the engine with a water spray bottle , keep it dark, and start the engine and look for sparks jumping.

does a 2005 ford freestar have a timing belt and a serpentine belt?

Timing CHAIN. and a serpentine belt.

no, a timing chain and a serpentine belt

whats the diffrence between a timing belt and a timing chain and does a 2005 ford freestar have both.

need diagram for 2004 freestar serpentine belt installation?

4.2l freestar ford van, need serpentine belt diagram

I need to Know how to replace te serpertine belt.

Here is the one for the 3.9 engine, if you have the other one let me know.

how do I asjust the serpentine belt on a 2005 ford freestar?

It should not require any adjustment. the right tension is provided by the idler pully. If you want to release the tension for serpentine removal or examination release the tension on the idler pulley in the rear of the motor, spin the nut in the center like you were tightening, and the pressure will be released from the serpentine belt. Reversely, the appropriate tension will be given using the same way when the strap is re-installed.

Almost all serpentine belts have a spring loaded tensioner to keep the belt tight. If you are having problems with squealing or slipping you probably need to see about having the belt replaced.

2004 Ford Freestar Serpentine Belt?

Some are actually spring loaded and others just have a slot that allows for adjustment. Either one of those types should be visibly different.
If the belt is not used for cam timing, the adjustment may be done with one of the accessory items such as AC compressor, the alternator or the power steering pump. In this case, the adjustable device will have one pivot bolt and another that goes through a slotted area to allow the device to 'swing' for adjustment.
The pivot bolt should be only a little loose so one can just barely move the adjustable device, while the adjustment bolt should be free while adjusting. This may help not losing the adjustment after having set the belt tension correctly.

"HOW TO":
Standard Rules to Removal the Serpentine Belt with an Automatic Tensioner:
1. Find the Tensioner(s). (See Diagram on Link)
2. Using a Serpentine Belt Tensioner Tool, Or Wrench OR Ratchet, Rotate/Move the Tensioner USING THE AVAILABLE NUT (on the Pulley or Arm Base) OR the OPENING (3/8ths or 1/2 inch square opening) rotating the Tensioner Pulley/Arm - moving it away from contact with the belt and towards the area where the belt is not in contact with the Tensioner Pulley. The Tensioner is spring loaded, and is hard to rotate/move.
3. Remove the loosened belt off one of the other more easily accessed Pulleys.
4. DO NOT quickly release the Tensioner, but gently allow the Tensioner to rest in its closed position.

Standard Rules for Installing the Serpentine Belt with an Automatic Tensioner:
a. Pick a Pulley that is most easily accessed. This will usually be on top. This will be the last Pulley that the belt will go on.
b. Using the Diagram: Install the new Serpentine Belt on the remainder of the Pulleys....over, under, left right.
c. Using a Serpentine Belt Tensioner Tool or Wrench or Ratchet Tool: Rotate/Move the Tensioner Pulley/Arm "away" from Belt contact area on the Tensioner. This spring is pretty hard and with a new belt, it will be even harder to install. Rotate/Move this to as-close to the maximum allowed inorder to have enough slack in the belt to get it up and over the last pulley.
d. Using your other hand - Pull the Belt up and over the Last remaining Pulley.
e. Before releasing the pressure on the Tensioner, visually inspect the remainder Pulleys and the Belts' Positioning on them.

2004 Ford F-250 6.0 liter diesel loosing coolant?

I have a 2004 Ford F-250 6.0 liter diesel, it is using coolant. I have changed the thermostate, flushed the coolant and changed the radiator cap. The truck is also getting a P0603 code.

i'm getting "internal control module keep alive memory?" for fault p0603. which i think has nothing to do with using coolant. i assume you're finding no leaks, so it's leaking somewhere you can't see. does it smell of antifreeze in the interior? is the carpet wet? the heater core might be leaking into the interior. there could be a slow leak on the top of the engine and it's boiling away before it has a chance to pool. fill your reservoir fully. let the engine get hot. inspect for steam in the engine compartment.

the code you have P0603 check 12volt battery cables make sure they are clean with no corrosion, clean cables and terminals. the code may need to cleared or it may reset itself. As for using coolant ckeck the oil,and also check the transmission fliud if it is light rusty color or way past full you need to replace the radiator then have transmission flushed.

how do i change the coolant/flush radiator in 2004 ford freestar

Open the petcock on the bottom of the radiator and allow the old coolant to drain.

Close the petcock.

To refill you will first fill the degas container to the cold fill range, leave the cap off the canister. Turn all of the heater controls to warm and turn fan to full. Idle the engine until the thermostat opens. Top off the coolant and put the cap back on. Idle at 3000 RPM for several seconds and then idle again for a minute or so. Check the level and then repeat this 4 times, or until heat is coming from the front and rear heat units.

If you want to flush the system you will have to remove the thermostat and hook up your flush system to the radiator hose at the thermostat housing. Follow the instructions on your flush system then put the thermostat back in. Follow the instructions above to refill.

engine noise on area of pulleys and sometimes engine tries to stop?

noise around the belts or pulleys; twice the engine stopped; sometimes it tries to slow down for a second while it's running; the problem began about two weeks ago; the noise is not all the time and intention of the engine to stall either

same issue, chirping noise in engine compartment, and engine hesitates occasionally. The noise is not regular and neither is the hesitation.

engine noise in pulley area.

could be one of the pulleys, air conditioning, power steering, idlers. start by checking them.

Don't know if this helps. Had squeel in belt area. Occasionally engine would stop when squeel got loud and sometimes engine would try to quit while going at various speeds. Found tensioner pulley was bad and changed it. Still squeeled and engine would stop when squeel got loud. This time while sitting in yard. Further checking found binding in power steering pump. Will be putting on new one tomorrow. Hope it works. Will update.

Update to my last post. After changing the power steering pump the squeal and stopping of the engine ceased. All is running good now.

have look at your belts may be it is loose or worn out.

have misfire, code P0316, any ideals? 86,000 miles on

2004 Marauder and 2003-2004 Mustang vehicles built before 12/19/2004 equipped with 4.6L 4V/5.4 4V engine may exhibit a runs rough, lacks power, and engine misfire, prompted by a MIL light and DTC codes P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306, P0307, P0308, and P0316.
ACTION
Diagnose engine for engine misfire concern. If diagnostics determine an engine misfire which is characterized by leakage through exhaust valve(s), only replace the affectedcylinder head(s).
SERVICE PROCEDURE FOR VEHICLES WITH RUNS ROUGH/MISFIRE CONDITION:
1. Perform relative compression check on all cylinders. If abnormal, check cylinder leakage and actual compression for "low" cylinders refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-00.
2. If leakage/compression check indicates a valve train concern, per valve train diagnostics in WSM, Section 303-00, replace cylinder head and cam assembly, pipe plugs and timing chain tensioner, per procedure outlined in WSM, Section 303-01.
3. If cylinder leakage and compression tests are inconclusive, perform misfire diagnostic, per TSB 05-22-8.

Engine midfiring, check engine light on, hesitates on acceleration?

its your camshaft postion sensor. You have to change the whole sensor not just the cap. Around 50 bucks at o'riley's autopart store.

I need to replace the alternator and I need to obtain the engine size?

check under hood on the front valve cover, should tell you there. some freestars are 4.2 L.

if you look in the book in your glove compartment you'll find the engine size. freestars are usually 3.5 L

Check engine light on?

My check engine light is on and every once in a while my van will hesitate and act like it doesn't want to go at stop lights.

My check engine light is on, it cut off and hesitated when I turned it back on with a loud noise like a heavy duty truck or something.

You most likely have a clogged or worn out sensor in your engine/exhaust that is causing the engines computer to be unable to correctly adjust the engines operating conditions.

You need to figure out which code is causing the problem. AUTOZONE or other parts houses may read it for free, then use the code to figure out which part is bad.

EGR valve and DPFE sensor are most likely candidates!

2004 Freestar just started hesitating and it would not get over 30 mph.

2004 Freestar-In Jan. it just started hesitating and it would not get over 30 mph. I had it towed to the dealer and they could not find problem. I picked it up and it ran good. I noticed the radiohad lost power and reset, so I got it's first new battery. Now here in March, the same hesitation and low mph, but this time, the engine light came on, it died and I smelled sulphur. It restarted no problem, hesitated and would not get over 30 mph, but it snapped out of it after driving 1/2 mile. The dealer said my altenator was intermittantly going out. I had it in a week before that because the engine hesitated slightly before the engine light and they said the engine light sensor on the catalytic converter was out. I did not have them fix this sensor.

Take van to reputable Ford dealer and have them hook it up to computer and check for any codes.
The vehicle computer might have to be reset for the egr system. What they did was disconnect your battery for the quicki reset for vehicle, thats why your radio had reset

2004 freestar van jus stopped pulling while going down road about 45 mph now it wont even go in gear, is this a simple cable problem or more serious?

pulled the pan and the fluid is dirty but no metal already, paid for a filter kit and more fluid already can the transmission relay be replaced by me or is that over my head thanks

If it will not go into any gear including reverse it is possible that the linkage is came off the transmission. Usually when a transmission goes out, it only goes out in one gear. So it could be a linkage problem. When you open the hood the linkage will be on the drivers side. You can have someone get in the vehicle and operate the shifter to locate the linkage. If the linkage is moving properly, it still could be a minor problem. Is the check engine light on? If so, it could be the Automatic Transmission Relay.

You can change it yourself. It just unplugs and the new one plugs right back in. They are sometimes difficult to get to. But if you go to a transmission shop to get the relay, then they will give you a print-out of exactly where it is located. They are only about $25.

check engine light is on, idle is very high, abrupt shut down when van is turned off?

Your vehicle is in "limp in" mode. You may have mechanical error with one of your sensors ... bring your vehicle in to a repair facility and have the codes pulled to see exactly which sensor or item is faulty.

Did you find out from the dealer what the problem was with your van? I have a 2004 Freestar with a 4.2 engine that is doing the EXACT same thing. Any help would be appreciated!

yes it was MAF sensor and IAC valve motor issue.

Engine turn over but doesnt keep running?

yesterday on our way home the 2004 ford freestar just didnt have any more power to go on. We turn the ignition on but it doesnt hold any power to keep going.

This may not be a solution, but I had a similar problem. I was driving at 70 mph on the freeway and the engine just stopped running. I pulled over and found that the service engine soon lite was on. I attempted to restart several times with no success. The tow truck driver went to the back and checked the emergency fuel shut off valve. He said it was tripped but would not reset. After towing it into the shop and have it trouble shot, the only things that was done to get it back on the road was clear the service engine light and reset the emergency shut off valve in the right rear (where the jack is) access panel. The codes were 171 and 174 which are very common. It seems that a hard bounce on the road can trip the valve and shut off fuel to the engine.

2004 ford freestar's check engine light is on?

Test showed that the manifold runner control is stuck open. Only thing it has been doing differnt is whistling when speed reaches above 30 mph.

on pcv valve, there is a 90 degree rubber hose, it is cracked, which causes the vacuum leak.
